Being Known is the Foundation of CrossFit 184

Check out the Built for Life Podcast Episode 5

At most gyms, you are a barcode. Just another client and another number. You are a data point in a software system that only triggers an alert if your payment fails. But at CrossFit 184, we believe fitness is best done with friends and the relationships are just as important as the workout. We have built our entire business model around a single, bold standard: You are known and cared for from the very moment you reach out to us.

This isn’t a marketing slogan; it is a system of stewardship fueled by people who walked away from corporate safety to build something and be part of something that actually matters. That is Abbys story.

The Pivotal Piece: Why Abby Left Finance for Fitness

The foundation of our member care is our Member Management Specialist, Coach Abby. For years, Abby lived the “traditional” path: a four-year business management degree followed by a stable, desk-bound career in finance at Edward Jones.

Like the story of “Mr. Incredible,” she found herself sitting in a cubicle, staring out a window on sunny days, realizing her only freedom was a 30-minute lunch break. She was an athlete at heart… a Division 1 College Athlete trapped in a world of sedentary spreadsheets .

When she joined CrossFit 184, that “hero” inside her woke up . She realized she didn’t want to manage retirement funds; she wanted to manage human potential and be a part of peoples wellness journey. Today, she uses her high-level background to ensure our “Human System” runs with precision.

Known Before You Step Foot in the Gym

The 184 experience starts the second you hit “submit” on our inquiry form. While other gyms might send an automated email three days later, Abby is often reaching out within the hour. Why? Because we know that if you are searching for a gym you could use some help deciding which gym is best for you. Whether it’s CrossFit or something else we will be honest with you every step of the way. By connecting immediately, we take advantage of that motivation to fill out the form and get you moving right away.

The 180-Day Journey: A Roadmap for Longevity

After you commit to membership, we don’t throw you into the fire to “figure it out”. We lead you through a structured journey designed to turn “trying CrossFit” into a lifelong habit and lifestyle change.

  • The First 90 Days: Abby will be holding your hand and checking in again and again. She will ask how you’re feeling, answer questions about movements, check your attendance and keep you on track.

  • Complete the 50/90 Challenge: We encourage every new member to hit 50 classes in their first 90 days. This isn’t about intensity; it’s about frequency and building the “non-negotiable” habit of showing up. Completing this challenge will help shape your identity into someone who goes to the gym, period. Of course, Abby will be there cheering you on along the way

  • The Nutrition and Mindset Bridge: Once the habit is set, we move you into Nutrition Coaching with Erin and Mindset Work with Zev. Here we ensure you are eating the right foods to see results, breaking the Victim Mentality and taking full ownership of your life .

Spreadsheets with a Soul

This kind of accountability and intentionality takes work. When you have a community as incredible as we do at CF 184, it takes systems to be relational. Abby was in spreadsheets sitting in her cubicle before. And now she is still tracking data with a whole new meaning and purpose. We track your attendance, your birthday, anniversary, and personal milestones. You are celebrated for consistency, hard work and every win along the way.

If you go missing for a week, you aren’t just a “lost active member” in a software—you are a friend we care about. Expect a text or call to see how we can help you get back through the door.
